Upcoming Wayne Public Library Events

WAYNE – From a monthly event for adults to prizes being drawn for youth and adults, the Wayne Public Library will be concluding their summer activities as the month of August continues.

According to a release, this month’s Adult Coloring Night is scheduled for Tuesday, August 9 at 6 p.m. in the back of the library. Stop in for a relaxing night and good company. Colors, coloring sheets and a snack will be provided as the evening is sponsored by Pac N Save.

As August 8 was the last day to turn in books read during the summer reading challenge for both youth and adults, the Summer Reading Program (SRP) will conclude on Wednesday, August 10. Prizes for youth and adults will be drawn.

The weekly needle night group will meet on Thursday, August 11 at 6:30 p.m. Participants can enjoy conversation and good company while working on their personal needlework projects. All kinds of decorative sewing and textile arts handicrafts are welcome.

Also, teens and adults are invited to sign-up for a Tuesday, August 23 activity at 6 p.m. during ‘Create with Canva Workshop’. Canva is the most accessible and widespread tool for graphic design from beginner to pro-level. Use Canva to create everything from merch, to flyers, invitations, short videos and Instagram posts with accessibility on virtually any device. Start a free account and learn some of the basics of this program. Only six spaces are available, so reach out to the Wayne Public Library at 402-375-3135 to reserve your computer at this free workshop.

Chalk the Walks Day is scheduled for Tuesday, August 16 being an all-day activity as the Traditional Book Club will meet on Tuesday, August 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the library conference room to discuss ‘Karolina’s Twins’ by Ronald H. Balson.

Karolina’s Twins chronicles the journey of a young Jewish Polish schoolgirl who becomes a Holocaust survivor wracked with regret, but also with much resolve. Lena Woodward is on a mission she has let lapse for 70 years.

Wayne Community Schools will be starting their first day of school on Wednesday, August 17 with a noon dismissal while the Wayne State College fall semester will begin on Monday, August 22.

Library hours include Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
