Severe weather heading towards Northeast and Eastern Nebraska


NEBRASKA (Austen Hagood – News Channel Nebraska) – Austen lets us know what to expect for upcoming severe weather.

This afternoon, we’ll start to see some thunderstorms develop in the Panhandle and some rain showers in Northeast Nebraska as well.

This line of storms will develop in the Panhandle and slowly get a little stronger, moving into Northeast Nebraska at around 10:15 PM. There is also a chance of thunderstorms south of Albion, Columbus, Grand Island, with another line of storms pushing into Iowa.

At about midnight tonight, storms will be in the Norfolk, Albion, and Columbus areas. There will be potentially severe weather moving through Valentine, O’Neill, Thedford, and Broken Bow, and into Hartington as well.

Tomorrow will bring possibilities of very serious severe storms in Northeast Nebraska, including Norfolk, O’Neill, and Hartington. Expect this to start tomorrow afternoon, into tomorrow evening, and almost into Saturday morning. Be prepared, as this storm may bring very large hail.

Today’s highs will reach the upper 80’s in Northeast Nebraska and lower 90’s in Southern Nebraska. Scottsbluff will reach 85° while Chadron will only reach 77°.

Tonight’s lows will fall into the 40’s in Chadron, 50’s and 60’s for the most part. The Southern half of the state will stay in the upper 60’s while the Northern half will stay in the lower 50’s.
