Hartington-Newcastle Volleyball Round Robin Results, Winside Goes 0-3

HARTINGTON – A northeast Nebraska volleyball program took part in a weekend tournament.

From Hartington-Newcastle Public Schools in Hartington, the Winside volleyball team competed in three matches on Saturday.

Winside suffered losses in straights sets to Howells-Dodge (25-15, 25-6); the host Hartington-Newcastle (25-20, 25-19) and Randolph (25-17, 25-15). The Wildcats are now 0-4 on the season.

From the loss to Howells-Dodge, Natalie Kruger recorded a team-high four kills as McKenna Russell led the team in set assists with four and added three digs. Maddie McManigal tallied a team-high five digs to go along with two service aces joining Carsan Brogren with two.

During the loss to Hartington-Newcastle, Kruger recorded two kills, four set assists and 10 digs while Russell added two kills, three set assists and eight digs. Hannah Gubbels came away with two kills and 10 digs. Service aces came from McManigal (five digs) with two and Kruger with one.

In the final match loss against Randolph, Hannah Gubbels recorded a team-high three kills to go along with a solo block, one ace and three digs as Russell added three set assists and led the team in digs with eight. Kruger posted two kills and six digs while Micah Stenwall finished with two kills and six digs.

 

Howells-Dodge won the Hartington-Newcastle Round Robin also securing 2-0 victories over Randolph (25-7, 25-19) and the host Hartington-Newcastle (28-26, 25-13) to improve to 4-0.

Randolph ended up second with a win over Hartington-Newcastle (25-16, 25-11) and are now 3-2 on the season.

The host Hartington-Newcastle ended up going 1-2 and are now 1-3 on the season.

 

Winside will next host a triangular with Plainview and St. Mary’s of O’Neill on Tuesday, August 31.
