WAYNE – For the week ending on Saturday, August 28, the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department Health District had another 17 individuals recover from COVID-19 with now 43.48% of the area fully vaccinated, up by nearly a half percent.

According to a release from NNPHD, cases per 100,000 for a seven-day reporting period were listed at 98, which was an increase of 43 from week ending August 21. The positivity rate percent jumped from 5.99% to 13.82% in a week.

The Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department Health District is made up of Cedar, Dixon, Thurston and Wayne counties.

Less testing was reported last week dropping from 284 to 217 tests being conducted with 30 tests coming back positive. An increase of 13 active cases now brings the total to 94. Of the overall 41,903 tests reported, 4,172 have tested positive.

The active hospitalization category rose from two to three for a total of 233 hospitalizations. COVID-19 related deaths also rose by one to 55.
