Nebraska Legislators To Consider A Tax On Advertising

WAYNE, NE – What might on the surface appear to be an innocuous piece of legislation designed to lower property taxes and get rid of those nasty ads on radio, TV, newspapers and digital sources, LB388 – a Bill to tax advertising in Nebraska, could have some devastating effects on the State’s business community, to say nothing about the negative impact on media.

This Thursday, the Nebraska legislature is scheduled to vote on the ad tax question. The legislation is being opposed by media interests in the State as well as those concerned for the overall health of Nebraska’s business community.

Among other entities, The Nebraska Broadcasters Association is urging business owners to contact their State Senators. In our region, that includes: Sen. Joni Albrecht jalbrecht@leg.ne.gov and Sen. Barry DeKay bdekay@leg.ne.gov. The Association has also provided a website link for additional information – https://noadtaxnebraska.com/
