WEST POINT – Members with the Wayne High girls golf program began their season at the West Point-Beemer Invite last Friday.
From Indian Trails Country Club in Beemer, WHS saw individuals of Natalie Bentjen place seventh with a 103 and Riley Haschke finishing 42nd with a 131.
Head girls golf coach Josh Johnson said, “I was happy with the way the girls battled. Beemer is always a great challenge to start a season with. The hills and turtle back greens can be tough but we fought to the end.”
Wayne High will travel to Cedarview Country Club on Tuesday, August 25 for a road dual with Laurel-Concord-Coleridge starting at 4 p.m.
The Cadets won their home invite shooting a 407 team score with Brook Diekemper finishing as the top individual with an 86. LCC followed in second with a 410 as Jadyn Kinkaid (94) and Sarah Karnes (101) finished runner-up and fourth place respectively.
Other top varsity scorers for the Bears came from Sidney Groene (10th – 107), Hope Swanson (11th – 108) and Delaney Hall (31st – 122).
Omaha Marian took third (433), Bennington fourth (470), Arlington fifth (486), Norfolk sixth (508), Shelby-Rising City seventh (509), Pender-Thurston Cuming eighth (518), Archbishop Bergan ninth (520), Oakland-Craig 10th (545), South Sioux City 11th (592), LCC JV 12th (600), Wayne 13th (630), Pender JV 14th (685) and West Point-Beemer JV 15th (723).
