Second Half Comeback Favors Host Mules, Wildcat Men Suffer First Loss On Season

WARRENSBURG, MO – The Central Region Tipoff Classic competition continued on the road for the Wayne State College men’s basketball team.

After securing a road three-point victory over Pittsburg State of the MIAA the night prior, WSC took on the host, Central Missouri Mules Saturday evening.

From the Multi-Purpose Building in Warrensburg, Missouri, the first half saw Wayne State jump out to a 36-31 first half lead. But, Central Missouri outscored the ‘Cats 42-31 in the second half to win 73-67. The Mules are now 2-0 on the season as Wayne State College fell to 1-1.

For the third straight game Trevin Joseph has led WSC in scoring as he poured in 20 points Saturday night. Kendall Jacks followed closely with 17 points as Vance Janssen picked up 10 points, five assists and seven rebounds. Jordan Janssen added four points while leading the team in steals and blocks with two each.

Wayne State College shot 24-52 (46.2%) from the field, 7-24 (29.2%) from behind the arc and 12-16 (75%) at the foul line.

Jafar Kinsey and Blake Spellman were the team leaders for UCM with 16 points teach as Jakob Lowrance tacked on another 12 points.

Central Missouri finished 25-51 (49%) from the floor, 9-21 (42.9%) from the three-point line and 14-15 (93.3%) at the charity stripe.

31   42  73 – Central Missouri

Earlier in the evening, Pittsburg State downed Harding by the score of 99-76.

The Wayne State College men’s basketball team will next open a four-game home stand in November. WSC will host Waldorf on Tuesday, November 13 as Nebraska Christian will be at Rice Auditorium on Thursday, November 15. Both games will tipoff at 7 p.m.
