LAUREL – Girls varsity basketball teams began play in the Lewis & Clark Conference Tourney over the weekend.
Saturday featured four host sites and eight games.
Ponca: #1 Ponca defeated #16 Osmond (50-23) and #8 Creighton defeated #9 Bloomfield (55-29).
Randolph: #12 Wakefield/Allen upset #5 Emerson-Hubbard (61-44) and #4 Randolph defeated #13 Plainview (48-33).
Hartington: #6 Homer defeated #11 Wausa (61-57 OT) and #3 Hartington-Newcastle defeated #14 Walthill (66-31).
Wynot: #7 Winnebago defeated #10 LCC (60-47) and #2 Wynot defeated #15 Winside (52-16).
Lewis and Clark Conference Round 2
Semifinal games will be played on Tuesday, January 29 in Laurel and Wynot. Games have been moved up an hour to begin at 5 p.m.
Monday, January 28 first round boys schedule:
Osmond: #8 Walthill vs. #9 Winnebago at 6 p.m. followed by #1 Osmond vs. Homer (who beat Winside 64-13 Friday)
Wakefield: #5 Wausa vs. #12 Allen at 6 p.m. followed by #4 Wakefield vs. #13 Plainview
Ponca: #6 Hartington-Newcastle vs. #11 Bloomfield at 6 p.m. followed by #3 Ponca vs. #14 Emerson-Hubbard
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge: #7 Randolph vs. #10 Wynot at 6 p.m. followed by #2 LCC vs. #15 Creighton
Quarterfinal games will be played at Plainview and Ponca on Thursday, January 31; semifinal round at Randolph on Saturday, February 2 and championship game at LCC on Monday, February 4 at 8 p.m.
Consolation games will also be held at Winnebago and Osmond on Thursday, January 31.
