Junior High Boys Basketball A, B Results From Road Games At Columbus Lakeview

COLUMBUS – Junior high boys basketball players have been busy the past handful of days competing on the home court once and recently playing their second straight road game.

From Lakeview High School in Columbus, the Wayne seventh and eighth-graders sent four teams to face Columbus Lakeview on Monday.

The Wayne eighth-grade ‘A’ team lost 44-27 to Lakeview ‘A’ while the Wayne Junior High ‘B’ team also suffered a 35-26 set back to Lakeview ‘B’.

The Wayne seventh grade ‘A’ team suffered a 46-38 loss to Lakeview ‘A’ while the Wayne seventh grade ‘B’ team won 40-18 against Lakeview ‘B’.

During the eighth-grade games, Jace Jorgensen paced Wayne ‘A’ with 11 points followed by Drew Miller with nine points. Parker Patefield (three), Gavin Anderson (two) and Brody Munter (two) also scored.

Blade Nelson paced Wayne ‘B’ with eight points. Brody Munter (five), Carter Wiese (four), Austin Heiser (two), Mason Karsky (two), Mat’keilon King (two), Drew Reinhardt (two) and Payton Junck (one) also scored.

In the seventh grade games, Jaxson Kneifl paced Wayne ‘A’ with 14 points followed by Aiden Peterson with nine points. Chase Nelson (eight), Dylan Jensen (four), Wanso Barner (two) and Chase Baldwin (one) also scored.

Chase Baldwin paced Wayne ‘B’ with 14 points as Maddox Heithold poured in 10 points. Chase Strum (six), Quentin Brunken (four) Waylon Huff (two), Landon Sharer (two) and Joe Leatherdale (two) also scored.

The Wayne Junior High boys basketball teams will next open a three-game home schedule beginning with Hartington Cedar Catholic on Saturday, January 22 starting at 10 a.m. Wayne will also host Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Thursday, January 27 starting at 5 p.m. before welcoming in Battle Creek, Norfolk Catholic and Pierce during the Wayne Tournament on Saturday, January 29 beginning at 9 a.m.
