Hasemann Places Fourth At State Cross Country Championships

KEARNEY – Class C girls cross country runners opened the 2019 NSAA Cross Country Championships Friday afternoon.

From the Kearney Country Club, Laura Hasemann of Wayne joined a handful of area runners from Pierce and Hartington who were in action.

Hasemann finished just 26 seconds off the lead time placing fourth at 20:06 as Conestoga’s Danie Parriott crossed the finish line first in 19:40.

The Blue Devil freshman ran a mile in 6:21 and her two-mile time was 12:58 for a pace of 6:29. Hasemann crossed the finish line just 1.7 seconds ahead of senior Zoe Christenson of Wahoo.

Alexus Sindelar (Pierce) placed 13th in a time of 20:28 followed by teammate Callie Arnold in 25th place (21:10) Sara Reifenrath of Hartington finished 28th (21:16).

Boone Central/Newman Grove won the team race with 44 points over Milford who placed runner-up with 57 points.

Class A girls were the next race followed by Class C boys and A boys. The late afternoon session will feature Class D girls at 2 p.m.; Class B girls at 2:30 p.m. Class D boys at 3 p.m. and Class B boys at 3::30 p.m..
