Dirt Devil 14s Suffer State Tourney Defeat In Two Innings

LINCOLN – A double elimination USSSA Class B State Softball Tournament was changed to single elimination due to weather this past weekend.

The Dirt Devil 14s ended their season in Lincoln Saturday afternoon with an 11-2 loss to the Lincoln Cyclones. The loser’s bracket games were rained out.

The Cyclones outscored Wayne 2-1 in the first inning before winning the second inning, 9-2 and the game 11-2. Wayne closed out their season at 21-10-1 on the year.

Taytum Sweetland doubled and drove in a run while Brooklyn Kruse singled and drove in a run for Wayne.

Kendall Dorey suffered the loss in an inning and a third allowing six runs (four earned) off of one hit while striking out one batter and walking five. Amara Hurlbert allowed five earned runs off of two hits while walking two batters.
