Class C & D Boys State Golf Top Two Teams Finish Within A Stroke

KEARNEY/NORTH PLATTE – Following a few snow showers Tuesday in western Nebraska the Class C and Class D 2019 NSAA Boys State Golf Championships were held Wednesday.

Class C teams competed at the Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney while Class D golfers were in North Platte at Lake Maloney Golf Course.

Grand Island Central Catholic edged Battle Creek (324-325) to be crowned Class C champions.

Other area teams were BRLD placing ninth (375) and Hartington Cedar Catholic in 10th (376).

Preston Carbaugh of Cambridge won the 18-hole outing with a 74. Cedar Catholic’s top golfer was Riley Kuehn who tied for second with a 76 while Luke Stueve (79) and Ty Heimes (80) both of Battle Creek finished seventh and eighth respectively.

Other area golf results went to Eric Anderson from Norfolk Catholic (T-13th – 83); Andrew Franzluebbers of GACC (T-15th – 84), Rockney Peck from Wisner-Pilger (T-19th – 85) and Cole Richards of Ponca (T-39th – 90).

 

In Class D, West Holt got past North Platte St. Patrick’s (355-356) while Creighton tied with Elm Creek for third both shooting a 370.

Jeremy McMillan-Peters (Paxton) was the top individual golfer finishing with a 75. Creighton’s top golfer was Bryce Zimmerer who tied for 12th with an 85.

Jacob Lingenfelter of Plainview tied for seventh with an 83 as Carter Schnoor from Randolph tied for 19th with an 89.
