With Temperatures Reading Low 80s – Upper 90s, Memorial Weekend Will Be A Great Time To Visit The Wayne Pool

WAYNE – Grab your swimsuit, sunscreen and a towel as the Wayne Community Activity Center Pool prepares to open this weekend.

This summer will mark the second full year the pool will be open after being open for about a month in the fall of 2016.

Recreation Director, Bryce Meyer said to enter the pool, use the main front doors of the Activity Center and go straight down the hallway and enter through the locker rooms.

“Of course, take a warm shower before you come out to the pool,” said Meyer. “Then your membership cards will be right at the pool desk when you get to the back of the locker room and come out those doors.”

A costs for an individual pass is $85; family passes are $125 along with a family plus-one pass that was recently added to allow for the babysitter or someone watching the kids to enter for $165 all summer-long. Daily admission is $5 for 13 & over; 3-12 years old is $4 and those two & Under are free with a paying adult.

Passes will not be sold out.

Roughly 280,000 gallons of water filled up the pool on May 10. Six life guards will be on duty full-time as they received a walk-and-talk training over the next couple days to get them familiar with the pool.

With the pool heater on, last checked on Wednesday the pool was reading 74 degrees which will grow to 80 degrees by Saturday afternoon. Once the pool is open on Saturday, May 26 at 1 p.m. it’ll be open seven-days a week, pending weather, from 1-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.

The Wayne Community Activity Center will host practices for the Wayne Swim Team, according to Meyer.

“From 7-8 a.m. for the older kids and 8-9 a.m. for the younger kids Monday – Friday,” Meyer added. “We will host two swim meets for them throughout the year.”

The Activity Center added another water instructor to their Water Aerobics class this year which lasts from 9 – 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.

There’ll be three adult lap swim times during the weekdays of 6 – 7 a.m.; Noon – 12:45 p.m. and 5 – 6 p.m. along with Noon – 12:45 pm. on Saturday.

The first of three swim lesson sessions will begin on June 4 while Aqua Zumba will also be back on June 11. Swim lesson levels 1-4 will be available at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. while levels 5-6 will only be offered at 9 a.m.

“The popsicles and the ice cream will be ready to go Saturday at 1 o’clock, so we’ll see what kind of turnout we get,” Meyer mentioned.
