Wayne County Budget, Final Tax Dollar Request Public Hearings Set For Tuesday Morning

WAYNE – A pair of agenda items will need approved during the Wayne County Board of Equalization before the Board of Commissioners will host two public hearings pertaining the budget and open their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 1.

From the Wayne County Courthouse courtroom, the equalization board will first meet at 9 a.m. The group will look to approve both a personal property tax correction along with a clerical error on real estate.

Moving into the board of commissioners, a budget hearing is scheduled for 9:05 a.m. During the presentation of the county budget, the total budget, the total tax dollar request and the amount of unused budget authority will all be addressed. Taxpayer support, opposition or comments on the proposed 2020-21 Wayne County Budget will then be taken.

The board will then present the 2020-21 Tax Dollar Request and talk about the total tax dollar request, total valuation of Wayne County and the 2020-21 tax rate.

Following the public hearings on the budget, the regular agenda will begin with an action item from county assessor, Dawn Duffy. She’ll provide a proposal to update the pictometry flights over six years.

At 9:45 a.m., commissioners will open and take action on bids for a track skid loader before Doug Elting with Berggren Architects will prove an update on the courthouse restoration project.

Prior to moving into executive session discussing personnel, the commissioners will consider and take action on the 2020-21 budget and tax dollar request.
