Updated Snow, Ice Projections During Winter Weather Advisory

WAYNE – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for today and continues for some areas into the evening.

According to a release from the National Weather Service Tuesday morning, a mix of freezing drizzle, sleet and snow is in the forecast throughout the day.

There was a mix in northeast Nebraska changing to light snow this morning. Also, freezing drizzle is being called for in the rest of the area changing to snow from northwest to southeast through the day.

Snow is expected to increase in intensity for the afternoon and evening. Blowing now is possible north of a line from Columbus to Tekamah today, then blowing snow possible for much of the area this afternoon into tonight.

The highest snow amounts have been shifted southward toward southeast NE/southwest IA with the advisory being extended into tonight for some areas.

Some parts of the area could see up to a 0.25” of ice with snow totals ranging from a trace to 4”. Localized higher amounts are also possible.

Max wind gusts read 33 mph in Wayne/Niobrara; 35 mph in Norfolk/Fremont; 36 mph in Columbus; 37 mph in Albion and 38 mph in Neligh.
