Post 43 Juniors Honored During Chamber Coffee Event, WayneAmerica.com Discusses Upcoming Additions

WAYNE – Community members were invited to Hank Overin Field Friday morning for the weekly Chamber Coffee event put on by Wayne Area Economic Development.

In a week’s time the complex and Wayne itself will have several other towns being represented for a Senior American Legion Baseball Tournament. WayneAmerica.com was the host of Chamber Coffee where creator of the website, Michael Carnes portrayed the State Tournament during his talk.

With the Fair Board hosting Chamber Coffee next week, Carnes chose the week prior to give some extra publicity to the baseball community of Wayne.

“Also, another opportunity to show off Hank Overin field,” said Carnes. “Which had its own renovation project a few years ago that was done up by some severe weather and it’s a great facility.”

Members of the Wayne Junior Post 43 Legion team were recognized  one day after being crowned Class B State Champions. The Junior program for Wayne has made it to four consecutive state tournaments, this being their first championship since 1966.

Carnes also does free-lance for sports writing and is entering his 10th year in Wayne. He stated Wayne is a real unique community.

“I’ve lived in a lot of communities over the course of my life,” Carnes added. “This one just has something to it that it’s really hard to explain other than something you just have to experience to be a part of this community.”

The 2018 Class B Senior American Legion Baseball State Tournament will last from Saturday, July 28 – Wednesday, August 1 from Hank Overin Field. Seven other teams will be represented from across the state of Nebraska.

Join members of the Wayne County Fair for the next Friday morning Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m. on July 27.
