WAYNE – Community members made it another great year during a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event last weekend.

According to a release from the Wayne Green Team, the event took place on October 12 from the Wayne Transfer Station.

In just two hours the event served over 80 households collecting paint (2,350 pounds), oil (90 gallons), antifreeze (15 gallons), car batteries (100 pounds), lightbulbs (257) and 40 pounds of other recyclable material.

This also marked the third time in four years that the Northeast Nebraska Resource Conservation & Development (NRCD) chose Wayne to host the collection event. Funding was provided by a grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust.

The Green Team would like to thank Gill Hauling for their support of the event as well as the WSC women’s soccer team for volunteering to unload the vehicles.
