Deadline For New Filing Candidates, 2020 Primary Election Is March 2

WAYNE – Non-incumbents who currently do not hold any elective office have until the end of Monday to file for the 2020 Primary election.

The deadline for new filers is 5 p.m. Monday, March 2 as each position now has at least one candidate filing.

As of Monday morning, there were three contested positions. Two Republicans have filed for County Commissioner (District 2) between Dean Burbach (incumbent) and B.J. Woehler (new filer); Wayne City Council (Ward 3) between Dwaine Spieker (incumbent) and George F. Phelps (new filer) as well as Wayne City Council (Ward 4) between two new filers of Christopher L. Welch and Nick Muir.

Other council positions include incumbent Terri Buck (Ward 1) and new filer Yasuko Taoka (Ward 2).

Wayne Community Schools Board of Education (District 17) incumbent filers are Lynn P. Junck and Jaime R. Manz as well as new filer Jeryl L. Nelson. Winside School Board (District 95R) new filers are Landon Grothe and John Kruse as well as an incumbent filer of Carmie Marotz.

Thomas Schmitz is an incumbent filer for the Wayne Airport Authority.
