WAYNE – In less than a year an annual tradition held in the community of Wayne will celebrate their 40th event.

The Wayne Chicken Show attracts folks from across the United States and elsewhere to enjoy a weekend of foul-fun.

According to a release in the Wayne Area Economic Development newsletter, post-it notes were invited, Mount St. Helens erupted, CNN was launched, the cost of a gallon of gas was $1.19 and the Wayne Chicken Show made it’s first appearance.

Members on the Chicken Show Committee will continue to plan for the 40th annual event which is scheduled for Friday, July 10 – Sunday, July 12, 2020. The committee is currently accepting theme ideas as last year’s theme was “Chickens Around the World”.

The committee is looking for a connection to entertainment, t-shirt design, decorating opportunities for cement chickens and related activities when they consider ideas.

Call the WAED office at 402-375-2240 if you have a theme to suggest.

The next Wayne Chicken Show Committee meeting will be held on Monday, September 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the back room of the Max. Locations will change from month to month, but the meeting will always be the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Contact marketing, events and tourism coordinator Abby Schademann if you would like to stay up to date on where the meetings are held. Also, like and follow the Wayne Chicken Show on Facebook.
