Wayne Ties For Eighth During Mid State Conference Golf

O’NEILL – With another week and a half of regular season outings ahead of district competition later this month, the Wayne High boys golf team participated in the Mid State Conference meet on Tuesday.

From the O’Neill Golf Club, a total of 16 varsity and JV teams were represented during the conference golf outing.

Wayne High shot a 410 to tie for eighth with Boone Central in the varsity team standings.

The Blue Devils were led by Caiden Backer with a 96 in a tie for 28th.

Other Wayne results came from Landen Sharer (103), Mason Karsky (105) and Dylan Jensen (106). Colson Nelsen was a scratch due to illness.

JV results favored Carter Wiese (108), Brayden Woehler (110) and Landen Roeber (116).

Mid States Conference golf at 2024 – Final Results

Host, O’Neill won the Mid State Conference boys golf invite with a 318 which was 10 shots better than runner-up Norfolk Catholic (328), Cedar Catholic took third (339),  Battle Creek placed fourth (347) and Pierce rounded out the top five teams with a 352.

Turner Heiss from O’Neill was crowned as the individual Mid State Conference champion with a 75 out of 62 golfers.

The Wayne High boys golf team will next host the Wayne ‘Mac’ invite on Thursday, May 2 from the Wayne Country Club. As of Wednesday morning, the invite has been pushed back an hour to 10 a.m. due to predicted rain overnight.
