Wayne State Women’s Golf Moves Up One Spot; Taylor Tied For 10th Entering Final Round Of NSIC Championships

SMITHVILLE, MO – Just a shot back from fourth after day one, the Wayne State College women’s golf team improved their team standings following another round of 18 holes during the NSIC Championships.

Back at Paradise Pointe in Smithville, Missouri, the second day showcased the second-best score on Saturday

WSC fired a 308 to improve one spot to fourth place following two days of competition. WSC was sitting in fourth at 639 (331-308) after an improvement of 23 strokes.

Wayne State College had four of five players in the 70s led by Jazmine Taylor with a three-over par 75 to now sit tied for 10th with a 157 (82-75).

Other WSC results from two of the three rounds are being posted by Abbey Kurmell and Erica Lee both tied at 17th with a 159 (80-79 for Kurmel and 83-76 for Lee); Saffire Sayre is now tied for 23rd with a 164 (86-78) and Abigail Brodersen is tied for 32nd with a 169 (87-82).

Augustana holds a three-shot lead over Winona State (610-613) with Minnesota State-Mankato in third at 623 entering the third and final round. Winona State had the best round on Saturday at 305, just three shots better than the Wildcats.

Concordia-St. Paul is fifth at 660 and University of Mary sits sixth with a 668 after Saturday competition.

The final 18 holes are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday for the 54-hole NSIC Women’s Golf Championships.
