SCHUYLER – A Thursday high school track and field invitational showcased several future conference competition and more district opponents for Wayne High School.

From Schuyler, the Blue Devils joined six other teams during the Schuyler Fred Arnold Invite.

The Wayne High girls finished sixth with 34 points while the Blue Devil boys took fifth with 63 points.

Head Wayne High track and field coach, Dale Hochstein said, “we had the opportunity to see several more teams from our District and how things are stacking up as we head into Conference and District meets in the next few weeks. Had some nice PR’s and other consistent results from many.”

In the girls division, Blair won the Schuyler Invite with 147.5 points, followed by Lakeview in runner-up (104), Aquinas Catholic took third (78), Scotus placed fourth (75.5) and Wahoo rounded out the top five teams with 74 points.

Elle Powicki won the 100-meter hurdles (15.81) and finished third in the 300-meter hurdles (52.34).

Addison Frank placed fourth in the pole vault (8’); Delaney Kruse finished fourth in the discus (96’ 11”) and fifth in the shot put (32’ 3 ¾”) as Nyla Bolles took fifth in the 200-meter dash (28.25) and sixth in the 100-meter dash (13.6).

In relay competition, the 4×800 finished fifth from Kierah Haase, Reagan McGuire, Kennasyn Blecke and Nyamalo Kantai (11:21.09); the 4×100 took fifth from Reginae Menyweather, Alexis Legler, Elle Powicki and Nyla Bolles (54.49) as well as the 4×400 placed sixth from Menyweather, Elle Powicki, Kantai and Alexis Legler (4:34.01).

During the boys division, Scotus won the Schuyler Invite with 142 points, followed by Wahoo (104), Lakeview took third (91), Blair placed fourth (66) and Wayne High rounded out the top five teams with 63 points.

The Wayne boys went 1-2 in the pole vault won by Grant Maas clearing 12’ prior to Mason Ley who also cleared 12’ for runner-up. Drew Miller won the 3200-meter rim (10:23.65) and 1600-meter run (4:59.43).

Sam Junck placed third in the long jump (19’ 4 ½”); Alvaro Archundia recorded a fourth place finish in the 3200-meter run (11:07.65); Konnor Kai took fifth in the triple jump (35’ 4”); Isaiah Yarde finished fifth in the high jump (5’ 6”); Kasen York came in fourth during the 800-meter run (2:12.89) and sixth during the 400-meter dash (56.79); Cole Zach was sixth in the 200-meter dash (23.96) as well as Taven Ocampo taking sixth in the 300-metrer hurdles (46.85),

Relay medals went to the 4×800 team in fifth of Drew Miller, Alvaro Archundia, Thomas Bacillio Raymundo and Kasen York (9:17.47) and 4×100 team of Zach, Gabriel Armstrong, Daevin Casarrubias and Ocampo in fifth (48.7).

The Wayne High girls and boys track and field team will next prepare for the Pierce JV Invite on Tuesday, April 23; top athletes to the Northeast Classic in Norfolk on Thursday, April 25 and then the Mid State Conference meet on Saturday, April 27 hosted in Albion.
