WAYNE – An early May invitational provided damp conditions for northeast Nebraska high school boys golfers.

From the Wayne Country Club, WHS hosted the Harold Maciejewski ‘Mac’ Invite on Thursday following overnight rain featuring 14 varsity teams.

The Wayne High boys golf team tied for sixth with Crofton shooting a 362. This marked a season-low team score for the Blue Devils.

Head Wayne boys golf coach, Andi Diediker said, “I was very pleased with our performance on our home course on Thursday. We beat our previous best team score by 20 strokes, and we had multiple players break 90 for the first time this season. It was a great experience for Dylan to earn his first medal as a freshman.”

WHS was led by freshman Dylan Jensen with a 16th place medal finishing with a personal record low round of 85. Other sub-90 rounds for Wayne came from Colson Nelsen (87) and Caiden Backer (89).

Other Blue Devil results came from Joseph Woerdemann (101) and Mason Karsky (104) on varsity as well as JV competitors Carter Wiese (105), Landen Roeber (106) and Landen Sharer (111).
