Freestyle, Greco Youth Wrestling Results

WISNER – Several Wayne Wrestling Club participants took part in a weekend tournament showcasing two different types of wrestling formats.

From Wisner-Pilger High School in Wisner, both the Gator Freestyle and Gator Greco Tournament were held on Sunday, April 14.

The Wayne Wrestling Club had six compete in freestyle and four in greco.

In the freestyle competition, Wayne produced 51 total match points to finish second. Team Zapas Wrestling Club was the top team with 67 total match points.

Grady Maas posted a first place finish in the boys 7th-8th (80-87) class along with runner-up results by Barrett Hanson in the boys 5th-6th (95-98) and Noah Magnuson in the boys 7th-8th (112-120) weight classes.

Third place medals were awarded to Maggie Sorensen in the girls 3rd-4th (59-62), Serenity Ellis in the girls High School (132-143) and Grant Maas in the boys High School (156-169) weight classes.

 

During Greco competition, Wayne also finished runner-up totaling 39 match points. WFC was crowned team champion with 42 points.

Grant Maas earned a first place medal in the boys High School (143-156) class followed by runner-up results from Adrian Zarate in the boys 3rd-4th (59-62) and Grady Maas in the 7th-8th (80-87) weight classes. Noah Magnuson finished third in the boys 7th-8th (115-120) class.

Freestyle practices for the Wayne Wrestling Club will be in Wayne on Mondays and Thursdays from 6 until 7:15 p.m.
