Community Activity Center Offering May Challenge, Bench Press Competition

WAYNE – From monthly challenges beginning in May, a bench press competition and slow pitch softball teams forming, the Wayne Community Activity Center will continue to provide opportunities for the community to participate.

According to a release from the Wayne Community Activity Center, monthly challenges will begin at the beginning of May.

The month of May will offer a walking challenge at the Activity Center to see who can walk the most miles. From the walking track or a Community Activity Center treadmill, record your miles at the front desk after each workout.

The person who walks the most miles will be the CAC Member of the Month.

Th CAC ‘Bench Press Competition’ will be on Saturday, May 18 with a male and female division. Weigh-ins will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the actual lifting starting at 9 a.m.

Participants will lift their assigned percentage of their body weight as many reps as they can. Cost is $10 with the entry fee and waiver form due before competition. Funds will support weight room equipment.

In the male division, those 29 and under will lift 90% of their body weight (BW), 30-39 (80% BW), 40-49 (70% BW) and 50 and older (60% BW) while the female division for those 29 and under will lift 70% of their body weight, 30-39 (60% BW), 40-49 (50% BW) and 50 and older (40% BW).

The 2024 co-ed slow pitch softball league is now open for registration. Tentatively scheduled to start on July 8 and play on Monday evenings, the number of teams will determine how many weeks the season will last.

Cost is $200 per team and players must be 19 or older with a max of 15 to a team. A single elimination tournament will then follow the season.
