Adams Central Uses 10-Run Advantage; District Final First Pitch Set For 4 PM Friday

HASTINGS – Day one of the C-5 District Baseball Tournament concluded Thursday evening.

From Duncan Field, the host and #1 Adams Central took on the Pender/Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur co-op of Thurston-Cuming County.

The host Patriots secured the 10-0 win by run-rule to win their second straight improving to 14-5. The TC Thunder ended their season dropping three straight falling to 5-13.

Adams Central began the game with a four-run first inning. The Patriots then added a run in the second before scoring four more runs in the third to lead 9-0. Adams Central scored once more in the fourth to win 10-0 by run rule and outhit the TC Thunder, 7-2.

Braylen Wegner and Owen Kneifl both singled for the TC Thunder.

Brayden Hegge suffered the loss in three innings allowing nine runs off five hits while striking out two batters and walking three. Ryan Linkous closed out the final inning allowing a run off two hits.

The C-5 District Final is scheduled for Friday, May 2 with first pitch set for 4 p.m. between #1 Adams Central and #2 Wayne in Hastings at Duncan Field. The game will be carried on The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590, waynedailynews.com and the Wayne Radio app. Pregame coverage will be set for 3:40 p.m.

Earlier in the afternoon on Thursday, #2 Wayne defeated #3 Louisville, 3-1 to improve to 13-7 ending the season for the Lions at 4-13.
