Planetarium, Laser Shows Being Offered December 9 – 10

WAYNE – A special 2022 holiday season continues through mid-December at the Fred G. Dale Planetarium.

According to a release from Wayne State College, the Fred G. Dale Planetarium will offer ‘The Christmas Star’ on Friday, December 9 at 7 p.m. being an astronomical explanation for what the wise men saw in the sky at the birth of Jesus followed by a holiday-themed laser show at 8 p.m.

Moving into Saturday, December 10, ‘Season of Light’ will start off the afternoon at 1 p.m. followed by a holiday-themed laser show at 2 p.m. ‘Season of Light’ traces the history and development of many of the world’s most endearing holiday customs, all of which involve lighting up the winter season.

‘The Sistine Chapel’ will then be shown at 3 p.m. on Saturday being a historical and deeply moving show that provides explanations of all of Michelangelo’s works in one of the most amazing places on Earth and with a holiday-themed laser show following at 4 p.m.

All shows last about 45 minutes. The planetarium is located on the lowest level of the Carhart Science Building. Suggested donation for shows is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

The 2022 Holiday Planetarium and Laser Show season will last through Saturday, December 17.
