NWS Monday Weather Report

WAYNE – A line of storms will be developing across central Nebraska midday Monday and move across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa late afternoon through late evening.

According to a release from the National Weather Service, the greatest threat of severe weather is between 4 – 10 p.m. on Monday. Heavy rainfall and isolated flash flooding will be possible across some of the region.

Most of northeast Nebraska is in the ‘Slight Risk’ category with further southeast one level up at ‘Enhanced’.

There is less than a 10% chance of tornadoes in east central and northeast Nebraska, 15-29% chance of at least quarter-size hail in southeast and northeast Nebraska as well as 15-29% chance of wind gusts 58 mph or greater in northeast and east-central Nebraska.

Rainfall of a half-of-an-inch or greater is expected much across the region with a slight (5 – 10%) chance of flash flooding and small stream flooding for isolated areas, generally along and east of the Missouri River.

Peak wind gusts being forecasted are between 40 – 50 mph in northeast Nebraska. NWS officials remind Nebraskans to be sure loose outdoor objects are secure and be cautious near tornado debris from storms on April 26.
