NSAA District III Music Contest Results For Wayne

SOUTH SIOUX CITY – Over 90 Wayne High students competed in the NSAA District III Music Contest.

According to a release from Wayne Community Schools, a variety of ensembles along with solos and small groups were held in South Sioux City on Friday, April 19.

Tracy Anderson, Vocal Music Teacher at Wayne Community Schools said, “special thanks to the families who attended and all who assisted the group to make it a successful day.”

Three Wayne High individuals received Outstanding Performance awards being Norah Armstrong (vocal solo), Gavin Anderson (vocal solo) and Colby Raulston (honorable mention vocal solo).

Large ensembles such as band and choir performed for three judges while solos and small groups performed for one judge. Ratings were also given for each performance and time permitting, the judges gave comments to the performers to enhance the learning opportunity.

Judges of solos and small groups had the opportunity to select one Outstanding Performance and one Honorable Mention award from the solos and groups they judged.

In the large ensembles category, Wayne concert band, concert choir, treble choir and bass choir all earned superior.

Among vocal solos and small groups, superior ratings were issued for Jacob Barner, Colby Raulston, Abi Hawthorne, Adrian Klinetobe, Adrienne Anderson, Jordyn Clinchard, Maddie Franta, Sharon Vasquez, Gavin Anderson, Aidan Bohnert, Olivia Hanson, Norah Armstrong, Ceilus Ibarra as well as Sharon Vasquez & Ceilus Ibarra for their duet.

Excellent ratings were given to Parker Kesting, Alec Schaffer, Anna Naeve, Lindsay Niemann, Riley Olson, Reagan Strong as well as the trio of Jacob Barner, Brayden Woehler and Landen Claussen. A ‘Good Rating’ went to the duet of Allan Brenner & Josh Doring.

For instrumental solos and small groups, superior ratings were awarded to Aidan Bohnert (trumpet), Ceilus Ibarra (flute), Nyamalo Kantai (marimba), Norah Armstrong (piano) as well as Olivia Hanson, Ceilus Ibarra and Norah Armstrong (trumpet trio) while excellent ratings were given to Alec Schaffer (alto sax), Hannah Burris and Kaleigh Graybeal (clarinet duet) as well as Mia Kuester and Katelyn Vanhorn (flute duet).
