New Weight Management Program Launched On April 1

WAYNE – A program was recently launched using body composition analysis with Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant funding.

According to a release, participating partners of Wayne Family Medicine, Winnebago Public Health Department and Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department joined the Northeast Nebraska Rural Health Network (NNRHN) for this free program.

NNRHN Weight Management program is where beliefs meet data and until now weight has been “just a number.”

The InBody is a quick and painless analysis that provides a detailed breakdown of weight in terms of muscle, fat and water through Bio Impedance Analysis (BIA). InBody has partnered with the US Military for over 10 years.

Capt. Danielle Phillips, a Marine Corps spokeswoman said, “everything we do is about warfighting. The practical, accurate and unbiased data provided via BIA ensure we maintain a healthy, ready force.”

Lara Spencer, Program Coordinator for NNRHN added, “I’ve learned that a ‘one-size-fits-most’ approach isn’t effective when it comes to health. People want personalized care with trust and transparency. The Weight Management Program creates the ongoing opportunity to see and understand personal data over several months- that feedback helps drive healthier habits and sustainable results.”

A few requirements include you must be a resident of Cedar, Dixon, Thurston or Wayne counties; be between the ages of 19-74 and Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25+. Again, there is no cost.

Participants choose from three levels of support including education, logging and coaching. The program focuses on personalized goals that will promote long-term health through lifestyle changes paired with monthly InBody analysis. This will help participants align their views and beliefs about their body and habits with BIA-exact data that changes in real time to further understanding, engagement and motivation.
