WAYNE – Polls closed at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening as ballots were being tallied for the 2022 General Election.
City of Wayne residents were able to vote at the District 1 County Shop on election day while those who lived outside of city limits had their ballot mailed to them.
Of the 5,235 registered voters in Wayne County, 3,131 (59.81%) casted a ballot for the unofficial results.
During the May Primary, 2,401 of the 5,260 registered (45.65%) casted a ballot.
Local Wayne County contested races being highlighted were the City of Wayne mayor race, City of Wayne City Council Ward 1 and Wayne School District 17.

There will be a recount for the Hoskins Board of Trustees with the top two votes within one vote of each other and a tie for third (Tyler Classen: 73 and James Miller: 72/Richard Doffin Jr and Andrew Beckman: both at 63).
The Wayne County Canvassing Board will convene on Thursday, November 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the lower level meeting room of the Wayne County Courthouse to canvass the results of the 2022 General Election results.
