Eastern Nebraska Under A Flood Watch

OMAHA, NE – As if Friday’s tornadoes didn’t create enough weather related damage in eastern Nebraska, now the possible of flooding looms for the next 24-hours according to the National Weather Service office in Valley, NE.

Here’s the actual notice …FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON…

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE… Nebraska, including the following counties, Antelope, Boone, Burt, Butler, Cass, Colfax, Cuming, Dodge, Douglas, Lancaster, Madison, Pierce, Platte, Sarpy, Saunders, Seward, Stanton, Thurston, Washington and Wayne. Plus … Portions of Iowa, including the following counties, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Montgomery, Pottawattamie and Shelby.

* WHEN…From this afternoon (4/27) through Sunday afternoon.

* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… Recent thunderstorm activity has caused soils to become saturated. Additional rainfall, which could be heavy at times, may lead to flooding in urban and low lying areas.

While Wayne is on the northern tip of the warned area, it is nonetheless one of the cities included in the watch area:
