WAYNE – School Board members held a Special Board Meeting for Wayne Community Schools Monday evening from the Jr/Sr High School Library.
Two positions were filled from the meeting. Kim Lubberstedt will be the School Counselor for K-8 while Jean Pieper will fill the K-6 Special Education spot.
Board members approved the quote from McGraw Hill of Columbus, Ohio for K-6 Wonders Reading Series books and materials. The books needed to be ordered prior to next Monday’s meeting so elementary teachers and staff members could get trained in the spring.
Another item addressed was the Director position for the Wayne Community Schools Foundation. Lindsay McLaughlin resigned from head girls basketball coach and Director with the Foundation after taking a job at Wayne State College. No decisions were made, just discussion from the board.
Also, there’ll be over 80 kindergartners coming into the 2018-19 school year, according to Superintendent Mr. Lenihan.
“But, basically we just talked about the size of that class and what we might do to accommodate that,” said Mr. Lenihan. “It’s a good problem to have, I guess, that there’s a nice big class coming in.”
The next regularly scheduled Wayne Community Schools Board of Education meeting will be on Monday, May 7 at 5 p.m.
