Woman slams child on ground, tells police she wishes she’d had an abortion

A 27-year-old Omaha mother has been cited on suspicion of child abuse after she reportedly was seen slamming her 14-month-old daughter onto the sidewalk outside a convenience store.

According to a police report, officers were called to a store near 60th and L Streets shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday.

A store employee told police that a woman had removed a child from her car and slammed the child on the sidewalk while the child was still in a car seat.

The woman reportedly threw the girl and the seat in her car without buckling the child in and drove away.

Officers tracked the woman’s car to a different location. When police asked the woman why she threw the child on the ground, the woman started screaming at police. She said she couldn’t take it anymore and wished that she had had an abortion.

The woman told officers that she didn’t want the child anymore and wanted to drop her off at a hospital.

It was the baby’s father’s turn to take care of the girl, the woman told police, but he didn’t want to.

The child was taken to Project Harmony.
