Police: Norfolk man brandished rifle to make neighbors move their cars

A 27-year-old Norfolk man was arrested Sunday after neighbors told police that he made them move their parked cars at gunpoint.

Officers were called to the 200 block of South 16th Street about 8 p.m., a police spokesman said. Witnesses told police that the man demanded that they move their cars from his side of the street and that when they refused, he retrieved a rifle.

After the neighbors moved their cars, the man went back inside. Police were called, officers went to the man’s door and the man appeared with rifle in hand, the police spokesman said.

He complied with the officers’ request to hand over the rifle and agreed to an interview. He was later booked into the Norfolk City Jail on suspicion of making terroristic threats and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
