WAYNE – As temperatures are scheduled to drop below freezing this week the first issuance of forecast changes has been released by the National Weather Service.
According to the NWS Omaha Center, a freeze watch has been issued for Thursday with temperatures ranging from 27 – 35 degrees that night and 26-32 degrees Friday night. A mix of rain and snow is possible for northeast Nebraska with little to no accumulations expected.
With this being the first freeze of the year for Thursday and Friday evenings, remaining crops or outdoors plants will be susceptible. The Freeze Watch, issued mainly west of the Missouri River, will last Thursday from 10 p.m. through Friday morning at 10 a.m. Freezing temperatures are also expected Friday night into Saturday morning.
Morning lows Thursday night into Friday morning will range from 27 – 29 degrees in the Norfolk/Wayne area and 32 – 34 in the Omaha/Fremont area. Saturday morning lows will be around 27 degrees in northeast Nebraska and 31 near Omaha.
