Excessive Heat Warning Issued Through Friday

WAYNE – As northeast Nebraska counties were getting hit with a thunderstorm Wednesday morning, much of the state will need to be prepared for the incoming heat wave.

Temperatures were in the upper 70s in the morning and will be reaching triple digits over the next few days.

According to a release from the National Weather Service – Omaha Center, hot and humid weather will continue for all of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa into Friday. The hot weather will also continue for southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa on Saturday with the northeast part of Nebraska being slightly cooler.

Afternoon heat index values will be peaking at 100 – 112 degrees through Friday.

Make sure to take appropriate precautions for those who have outdoor work or activities. There will also be some chances for storms with the highest being Saturday evening.
