BLAIR – Following a three-run loss Friday night, the Wayne High baseball team was back on the road during a weekend contest.
The Blue Devils visited Blair Saturday early afternoon.
Wayne got off to a hot start with a 3-1 first inning before Blair regained the lead with a three-run second to go up 4-3. The Bears tacked on a run in the fourth, Wayne scored a run in the fifth as Blair had four runs cross the plate in the sixth to win 9-4. Blair is now 3-3 while Wayne High fell to 2-3.
Hagan Miller posted a single and double while Josh Lutt singled and drove in two runs for WHS. Trevor DeBoer and Blake Bartos both singled twice and drove in a run as Jacob Kneifl, Victor Kniesche and Tyrus Eischeid all singled.
Jacob Kneifl suffered the loss in three and a third innings allowing five runs (four earned) off six hits while striking out five batters and walking three. Josh Lutt worked two and two-thirds allowing four earned runs off four hits while striking out three batters and walking one.
