One person is dead after a crash involving a dump truck pulling a trailer and a sedan near the Elkhorn River in Douglas County.
The crash, near 245th and Q Streets, was reported early Friday afternoon. The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, was killed. The dump truck driver was not seriously injured and was not taken to a hospital, authorities said.
Sgt. Chris Ivener of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicles were coming from opposite directions on the two-lane road when the crash occurred and the truck tipped over on its side. Deputies are still investigating what happened.
No identifications of those involved have been released.
Last year, there were 19 fatal crashes involving heavy trucks in Nebraska, the most since 2010.
