Road rage, argument over text message lead to arrest in Lincoln, police say

A 39-year-old Lincoln man has been arrested in connection with a road-rage incident, authorities said.

Police said that about 8 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to 20th and Knox Streets in north Lincoln. The 39-year-old and a 36-year-old man were arguing over a text message, authorities said.

The 36-year-old told police that he was driving west on Knox Street when the 39-year-old, who was traveling east on Knox, intentionally rammed the front of his vehicle. The 36-year-old was backing up when the 39-year-old again used his vehicle to ram the other man’s. They got out of their vehicles and began arguing, police said.

The 36-year-old said that the older man chased him with a large, metal object until a witness stepped between them. Officers recovered a 2-foot-long metal wrench.

The 39-year-old was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief and cited on suspicion of assault.
