Nick Townsend is among the top 40 singers on “American Idol.”

As Monday night’s episode concluded, the judges revealed those that advanced during “Hollywood Week” would be sent to Hawaii for further competition.

On Sunday’s episode, Townsend strummed an acoustic guitar and sang Shawn Mendes’ “Life of the Party.” The Tekamah, Nebraska, native impressed the judges enough to advance to the next round.

“After everything I’ve been through this year, it means so much to me, and it means so much to my family to just see me keep going,” Townsend said on the broadcast.

Sunday’s episode, airing at 7 p.m. on ABC, has been dubbed “Final Judgement,” and judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will whittle down the competition to 20 singers.

“They’ll travel to Hawaii for a showcase performance on the beach in front of a live audience before they face their live judgement,” host Ryan Seacrest said during the episode.

The top 20 will then sing solo performances on April 1.
