Nebraska Game & Parks Commission Celebrating 100 Years Of Nebraska State Parks Throughout 2021

LINCOLN – It was a 100 years ago when Nebraska’s first state park was created. That was Chadron State Park. Now, the state will be celebrating its state park centennial year with events and promotions.

There are 76 park areas in Nebraska. These range from state parks to state recreation areas to state historical parks. The parks and recreation areas offer tremendous outdoor or indoor activities and relaxation in general. The historical parks reflect on the state’s evolving legacy and culture.

Keep an eye out for numerous events at state parks throughout the year. Game and Parks highlighted three main events. These are Chadron State Park on June 11 and 12, Victoria Springs on July 10, and Arbor Lodge on October 2.

Additionally, Game and Parks will be running partnerships and other promotions this year.

Be on the lookout for a documentary summarizing the state’s historical parks. Nebraska Lottery will offer five-dollar scratch tickets, beginning in late April, with a chance to win one of three $40,000 grand prizes. Nebraska Tourism’s passport will feature several state parks. A purchase of a Nebraska park entry permit and $30 worth of Michelob products allows for a $30 rebate from Michelob.
