June frost advisory issued for the Nebraska Panhandle

OSHKOSH – Monday will be June 10. The time of year for sunshine, warm temperatures and thunderstorms. But for residents in portions of the Nebraska Panhandle, frost will be a threat overnight tonight.

“Surface high pressure will lead to clear skies and calm winds tonight,” according to the National Weather Service office in North Platte. “This coupled with dry air will allow temperatures to reach the lower 30s. Areas of frost are expected.”

The weather service issued a frost advisory from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday for Garden, Sheridan and Grant Counties. Temperatures are forecast to be between 33 and 36 degrees.

The NWS warns sensitive vegetation susceptible to frost should be covered or brought indoors.
