Gov. Ricketts Hosts Japanese Delegation, Strengthening Economic Ties

LINCOLN – The economic ties between Nebraska and Hyogo Japan are stronger today, after a meeting at the capitol.

Today, Governor Pete Ricketts hosted a delegation from Japan’s Hyogo Prefecture led by Governor Toshizo Ido.

The two signed a memorandum of understanding, which strengths the economic ties between Nebraska and Hyogo.

The University of Nebraska and the University of Hyogo signed a similar agreement on Wednesday.

That agreement will lead to new educational and research collaborations between the two institutions.

Later this year Omaha will host the 50th annual conference of the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association.

During that forum discussions about business and trade relationships between Japan and the Midwestern United States will take place.

The conference will take place September 9-11, 2018.
