A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in a 2008 homicide.

Richodd Mackins was booked Monday morning into the Douglas County Jail in connection with the slaying of Marcus Johnson.

Johnson, 23, was shot outside a barbershop near 60th Street and Hartman Avenue on Sept. 25, 2008.

Officers found two bullet holes in the window of the Stay Sharp Barber Shop when they went to investigate a shooting about 10:20 a.m., but they didn’t find a victim.

Someone in a private vehicle later flagged down an Omaha Fire Department ambulance. Johnson was found at 67th Street and Sorensen Parkway. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died during surgery.

Johnson was Omaha’s 28th of 44 homicides in 2008.

Mackins served about a year in jail in 2010 on a charge of possession of a stolen firearm.
