Funeral Services for Warren Marotz, age 91, of Winside, will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winside on Saturday, August 4th, at 10:30 a.m.  Visitation will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winside on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with family present.  Interment with Military Rites will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Winside.  He passed away on Friday at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Norfolk.  Memorials may be directed to the Marotz family for later designation.  Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Warren Stanley Marotz was born March 12, 1927, on a farm south of Winside to Edgar & Rose (Rohlff) Marotz. He was baptized on May 1st 1927, and confirmed May 25 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins. His confirmation verse was John 1 vs 29 “Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” He attended grade school at District 11 and graduated from Winside High School in May of 1945. He served in the army from April 1946 to October 1947.  On September 19, 1948, Warren married LaJeane Miller at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winside. The couple farmed for 35 years north of Winside. Warren was a cattle feeder. He was a member of the Northeast Nebraska Feeders Association. They moved into Winside in October 1983, but he enjoyed going out to the farm every day. He served on the Rural School Board and also on the Winside Board of Education. Warren is a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council & is an honorary voting member. He is a member of the Winside American Legion Post 252. He enjoyed farming, horses, bowling, & playing cards with his friends at the local cafe. He was proud of his kids, granddaughters, & great-granddaughter. He enjoyed attending all their activities, family get togethers and family reunions.

Survivors include his spouse, LaJeane of almost 70 years; a son, VerNeal (Carmie) Marotz & daughters, DeLana & MarFaye Marotz all of Winside; granddaughters, Brittni (Ross) McKenzie, Cassidy (Andrew) Olsen; great-granddaughter, Axelynn McKenzie all of Norfolk; and sister-in-law, Lois Miller of Norfolk.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, ValDean (2016); his brother, Chester (Doris) Marotz; brothers-in-law & sister in law, Vernon Miller and Don & Delaine Matthes.
