Rose Cecilia Kavanaugh was born April 12, 1923 on the family farm north of Randolph the daughter of Peter and Ottilia (Kunz) Korth.  She attended Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic School in Randolph.  Rose was a hard working farm girl, always helping her parents or brothers wherever needed.

Rose married Merele Peter Kavanaugh November 19, 1946 at Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph.  They farmed for one year one mile east of Randolph and then moved to a farm southeast of Belden where they stayed for 44 years.  Rose always helped with the farm duties.

At first, Rose and Merele were members of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Belden, where Rose was a member of Altar Society, a Lector and on an Omaha Archdiocesan committee.  She belonged to a ladies bowling team and enjoyed playing cards with neighbors and going to Big Band dances with Merele.

After retiring Rose and Merele moved to Randolph in 1987.  They became member of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church where Rose was a member of P.C.C.W., Quilting ladies.  She belonged to Christian Mothers for over 50 years.

Rose loved to crochet and quilt and share stories of family history.  She always amazed people how much she could recall people’s names and places.  Her sweet smile and disposition will be missed by many.

Rose is survived by her two sons Gary and Janet Kavanaugh of Laurel; Pat Kavanaugh of Randolph; two granddaughters Deb and Steve Obermeyer of Pender; Colleen Kavanaugh of Tampa, FL; one brother Paul and Shirley Korth of Randolph; sister-in-law’s Margaret Bloomquist of Randolph; Jeannie Kavanaugh of Dixon; Rosemary Kavanaugh of Lincoln and many dear nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Merle on January 31, 2010; 3 brothers Desmond Korth, Harold Korth, Leonard Korth; 3 sisters Mary, Delores and Cleo.
