Mass of Christian Burial for Rick Ginn, age 66, of Wayne, formerly of Omaha, will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne on Wednesday from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. He passed away on Saturday, September 22 in Wayne. Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Richard John Ginn was born at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA on February 29, 1952 to Clifton and Antonia (Starcevich) Ginn. The Ginn family moved to Wayne in 1968. In high school Rick was a wrestler and right fielder on the 1970 State Champion Baseball team. He graduated in 1970. He attended Wayne State and transferred to and graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
In 1985 Rick married Jane Mellen, and they moved to Dallas, TX where he began a 30-year career with Kimberly Clark Corporation. Their son Patrick was born in 1988. The family lived in Atlanta and Minneapolis before returning to Nebraska and settling in Omaha. Rick worked briefly for Carpenter Paper following his retirement in 2016. Rick was adventurous and sought opportunities for new learning. He was a tri-athlete, avid golfer and fisherman. Some of his interests were reading, art, music, sailing, mechanics, martial arts, and beach combing. Rick worked hard, and he played hard often traveling to be with family and friends. He rarely missed a Husker game at Memorial Stadium. His granddaughter, Aubree, was the sunshine of his life. Rick’s gentle spirit and kind heart endeared him to everyone he met.
He is survived by his son Patrick and granddaughter Aubree Ginn and his mother, Antonia Ginn of Wayne. Siblings are Mike (Laura) Ginn of San Clemente, CA; MaryAnn (Randy) Lutt of Wayne; Tom (Lori) Ginn of Loveland, CO; Teresa (Kevin) Kay of Wayne. Nieces and nephews include Joe (Karen) Lutt of Boulder, CO; Katie (Dave) Brown of Cedar Rapids, IA; John Ginn, Gail Ginn of San Clemente, CA; Amy (Levi) Schmidt of Norfolk, NE; Mikey Kay of Wayne, NE; James (Elliott) Encarnacion of New York, NY and Michelle Ginn of Loveland, CO.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Ginn in 2012 and Jane Mellen in 2018.
