A Memorial Graveside Service for Mable Fredrickson Jones, age 95, of Lincoln, formerly of Carroll, will be held at Bethany Presbyterian Cemetery in rural Carroll on Saturday, May 18th at 11:00 a.m. She passed away on Monday, March 25th at Careage Campus of Care in Wayne. Memorials may be directed to the First Lutheran Church of Lincoln or Providence Medical Center Hospice in Wayne.  Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Mable Joy Fredrickson Jones was born April 6, 1923, in  Carroll to Christian and Averina (Sylvanus) Fredrickson.   She graduated from Carroll High School and received her Bachelors of Arts degree in education from Wayne State College. She began her elementary teaching career in a country school in rural Nebraska and then at Tilden Public Schools and Winside Public Schools.  Mable later moved to Lincoln, where she was a first grade teacher with the Lincoln Public School System until her retirement. In 1983, Mable joined her three sisters in wrapping up a total of 146 years in the classroom in Nebraska.  The teaching “Fredrickson Sisters” included Mable, Laura Fredrickson, Ethel Malmberg, and Ruby Nelson.  At that time they were recognized by President Ronald Reagan for their contributions to education.  In 1977, Mable married Thomas J. Jones at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln.  She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

Mable is survived by her sister, Ruby Nelson of Brookdale-Wayne; three step-children, Mike (Marsha) Jones, Lake St. Louis, MO, Jim Jones of Seattle, WA, and Bill Jones of Lincoln; grandchildren, Chris (Mary Beth) Jones of Arlington, IL and Stacy Jones of Blacklick, OH; several nieces and nephews.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas in 2013; nine brothers and sisters.
