Jimmie D. Woodward

Jimmie D. Woodward, 86, of Allen, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018.  Military graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery in Allen, NE.  Following the service, lunch will be provided at the Allen Fire Hall at 11:00am. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.  There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Wakefield is in charge of the arrangements.

Jimmie was born on May 15, 1932 on a farm near Allen, Nebraska; the son of Henry and Irma (Isom) Woodward.  After attending school he entered the United States Army.  He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Wheeler on February 14, 1954 in Albion, NE.  After leaving the military they returned to the Wakefield area to begin their life of farming. Jimmie and Shirley were married for 62 years and raised five children, Kathleen, Keith, Karen, Lorraine, and Kevin. Following their retirement, Jimmie and Shirley moved to Allen.

Jimmie’s passion was farming. He also enjoyed hunting, water skiing, playing cards and camping.  His daily routine consisted of early mornings and sharing coffee with his friends at the Allen Senior Center. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his wife and family.

He is survived by his sons, Keith (RoNelle) Woodward of Concord, NE and Kevin (Stacey) Woodward of Allen, NE; daughters Kathleen (Kenny) Hill of New Braunfels, TX, Karen (Jerry) Smith of Concord, NE and Lorraine Buckwald of Lincoln, NE; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brothers Thaine Woodward of rural Concord, NE and Neyron (Alice) Woodward of rural Wayne, NE; and a brother-in-law Dean (Louise) Wheeler of Osceola, NE.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley, parents, Henry and Irma (Isom) Woodward, grandson Rusty Hill, sister-in-law Doris Woodward, brother-in-law, Dale Wheeler, and sister-in-law, Elsie Wheeler.
